Large (for Europe) adequately appointed, comfortable rooms. Soft deep pillows, smooth fresh linens, fluffy clean white towels. A towel rack would be nice as most people are not opposed to reusing towels. The tiny hooks weren't fastened very well and our towels kept falling on the floor which I think is a signal for housekeeping to collect them. Aside from that, everything was wonderful. It's so nice to have a ready breakfast so as not to waste time looking for places to eat, and what a breakfast! All selections were fresh, hot items were hot and readily replenished. Bakery items soft and flaky. Coffee machines are the best with everything you can think of to put in your coffee. Great thin crispy fresh waffles that you make yourself, try with powdered sugar! Great to get you going for a busy day. There are also snacks for purchase and fresh made-to-order pizza when you're too tired to wander in the rain looking for a place to get dinner. Trams 26 and 7 as well as busses 65 and 43 provide easy, quick and consistent service to Centraal station or museum square. No need to rent a car! Most of all, the STAFF! Everyone we encountered was delightful, eager to assist and genuinely interested in their customers. The ladies serving breakfast were so sweet, bright cheery smiles every morning! I hope I didn't get one of them in trouble for talking to her for so long, that was entirely my doing, not hers. We had to leave early for our flight but were fortunate to meet her on our way to the tram and gave her hugs and thanked her for making our time so enjoyable. I'm bad with names but hers began with an M, Filipino lady. Also the gentleman who checked us in assured us our 2-twin room was ready despite our late arrival due to airline delays, and was so helpful guiding us on most efficient way to get back to airport. We didn't encounter any housekeeping staff but they did a wonderful job every day. Please don't listen to the poor reviews, some people just don't understand common hotel policies or think they are entitled or only happy when everyone around them is miserable. We never had a bad breakfast, the pancakes are local flare so they are different than what you might be used to. Probably best to not travel to different countries if you expect everything to be like it is in your country? I have yet to stay in any hotel where everything is 100% perfect down to the tiniest details, even highest rated 5 star establishments. Hampton Amsterdam Center East was comfortable, we felt very safe as mother and daughter traveling It began to feel like home and the staff like family. We were sad to leave and hope to return one day. Thanks again!

Very clean hotel with excellent staff! We were a group of three couples traveling to Amsterdam for the first time. We could not have chosen a better hotel. The full breakfast was an added bonus. Splendid hotel in every way! We highly recommend it!

It's a very good hotel and well located to easily get on a tram. The rooms are nice and big, although I'd appreciate a mini fridge to store food. The bathroom was nice, but the shower had like one half glass panel so you had to be careful not to splash all over while showering. The staff was very nice in general, English and Spanish speaking (probably Dutch too) although the first morning, when we came back from breakfast, the cleaning lady was already in our room and kept cleaning with us in there instead of giving us 5min to get ready, take our stuff and leave. The included breakfast buffet was very good with fresh fruit, fresh smoothies, local cuisine and other more international dishes. We REALLY enjoyed the breakfast buffet.

If you're a traveler looking for a more modern take on a hotel while in these old European cities, then this will check that box if you're in Amsterdam. The property is very clean and modern, the staff attentive and very helpful, and at least in my opinion, the included breakfast service is outstanding. The room featured all of the ammenities I was looking for after staying in more quaint older properties in other cities. You know...hot water that never ends, daily housekeeping, room tempertures that are warm and cool as you wish. I just needed something more up to date for a change. Show up for breakfast and I think you'll be amazed at the selection and quality. This is not just your 'standard' buffet of cold cereal, stale rolls, frozen butter and steam table aged scrambled eggs. Each day an assortment of fish, fruits, juices, coffee/tea, the ever present waffle iron, rolls and pastries, vegitables, changing hot dishes and even the famous Dutch pancakes that although pre-made, still tasted just fine. Partake of the offerings you you can probably skip lunch. Now for the potential downside, that actually has nothing to do with the property itself, but rather the location. When public transit is working, this location is great with the two tram lines and a bus just a short walk from the fron reception that can easily transport you (with the help of Google maps) where you want to go as a tourist. But, if/when the transit isn't fully functional due to construction or labor issues, you'll find yourself isolated with few options, as I did for a day and a half. Substitute a taxi and you'll be hit with a fare that will shrink your wallet. Walk and you'll wear out your traveling shoes. The Hampton people cannot do anything about this if it happens and it's certainly not their fault...it's just circumstances and the location, so be aware. But, on the positive side, if you're looking for what I was, and the transit is operational or you don't need it, this is a terrific place to stay at a fair cost.

Enjoyable stay, a quiet hotel although being on the top floor with windows facing the main street, it's more in name only and the only good view from the windows is of the main artery; good to know. The hotel is reasonably priced, offering a solid breakfast in the style of the chain, including waffles. The room is quite large, equipped with everything needed, although showing signs of wear and tear. However, the reception more than makes up for it; a very pleasant experience overall. You can ask about anything, they'll assist with a smile. The VAT invoice issue was resolved promptly. The city center is a quick tram ride away in 8 minutes, but it's a bit far from other parts of the city due to tram routes, so it's best to head to the center and then choose a connection to your destination from there.
